Ahhhhhh California, you were one unexpected journey from beginning to end and I loved every second of it.
About a year ago I followed my heart and went to California to reunite with a lover. We met in Hawaii and clicked right away – a beautiful connection after a year of heart healing. I was still riding high after my time in Hawaii, and California seemed like a good continuation of that journey. My friends thought I was crazy but they're used to it by now. I landed with very little expectations; I simply had no idea how the trip would unfold. I didn’t even have time to research – between unpacking, packing, and running a business, so I just went for it – heart facing forward and mind open to anything that may come.
A few days after meeting my lover I decided to spend most of my time traveling solo. I didn’t plan it, but it felt right and with his supportive blessing I went for it.
California has taught me a valuable lesson - not every spiritual connection will turn into a long-lasting romantic relationship, but it might be the beginning of an incredibly meaningful friendship. Josh and I are not together but we totally are - he's my best friend and we talk every day. Our bond is incredibly strong. He's my rock and inspiration. As you will see throughout the new collection – this has been a reoccurring theme in my life this year – letting people in, opening my heart to new connections and letting go of old ideas of relationships and relating to others. It was a challenging lesson at the time, but I’m incredibly thankful for it.
When I was in California, I found beautiful pearls in different places I travelled to, which inspired the new collection. Pearls are magnificent - they are both strong and gentle. They are beautiful and vulnerable and precious, just like our hearts. We can choose to take the leap, learn from it and come out of it stronger, or we can choose to play it safe and resist our heart's desires. You know where I'm standing when it comes to matters of the heart. It’s not always easy and it’s definitely not predictable. But damn, it’s a beautiful journey indeed.
